Overview

Considered one of the more challenging treks in the himalayan region the Manaslu trek is an experience of a life time. The objective of the trek is to approach in the vicinity of Mt. Manaslu (8156m), the eighth highest mountain in the world. The trek starts at Arughat, the gateway to Buri Gandaki Valley. There are very few tea houses along the trail which are of basic standards. You will be passing through Manaslu Conservation Area which is home to 11 types of forest. This is a prime habitat for snow leopard, Himalayan Thar and Blue Sheep. At Samagaon, you can go on an excursion to Manaslu Base Camp.

The challenging section of this trek comes up while crossing Larkya La Pass at 5160m. The pass offers spectacular views of Mt. Manaslu, Annapurna, Himalchuli etc. Along the trail you will have plenty of opportunities to interact with local people who are called Nupris who have culture and lifestyles akin to Tibetans. Take time out to visit Shringi Gompa, Mu and Rachen Gompas, some of the most popular and ancient Buddhist shrines. The trail joins the Annapurna circuit at Dharapani and drops down to Besisahar. If anyone would like to continue trekking to Annapurna region, it is also possible.Manaslu Trek can be done in different duration and at different times of year. Spring (Mar-May) and autumn (Sep-Nov) are two best seasons for trekking in this region.

Short briefing about this trekking

In the morning, visit Kathmandu City & Swayambhunath (UNESCO World Heritage Site)

Kathmandu Durbar Square is located in the heart of old city Kathmandu. There are around 50 temples in the vicinity. In this tour, we visit the 17th Century Durbar complex, Hanuman Dhoka, Paravati temple, great Bell and Drum, Bhairav and Taleju Temple. All around the splendour of historical monuments is the hustle & bustle of the market place. Vegetable vendors, trees of flutes, salesmen with their wares displayed on their person, souvenir hawkers, and street shop selling imported goods and tucked away in a quiet corner the glittering bead market for custom made bead necklaces.

Swoyambhunath (UNESCO World Heritage Site) - Swoyambhunath literally means 'Self-Existent One.' Swoyambhunath is believed to have been established more than 2,500 years ago. An inscription dated 460 A.D. states that the construction was carried out by King Manadeva. By the thirteenth century Swoyambhunath had developed into an important Buddhist learning site. It is also known as the Monkey Temple as there are holy monkeys living in parts of the temple in the North West. Swayambhunath occupies a central position; it is probably the most sacred among Buddhist Pilgrimage sites.

In the afternoon, you will visit Patan Durbar Sqaure (UNESCO World Heritage Site).
In Patan, the old Newar city, you will see the historic Durbar Square, the Golden Gate, the sky piercing temple of Taleju and the statue of Yogendra Malla, Krishna Mandir, Sati Temple, Hiranya Varna Mahabiar (the golden temple), and Mahabouddha with views of old carved wooden windows through the streets, curios shop and Bazaars.
